Okay, so this is prob one of the best restaurants in town. So sorry to hear they are probably closing.
Don't eat anywhere else for the best country cooking around. Meat and 3 was better than mom's. Had the roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra and side salad. Boom! Then chocolate pie to finish off. What a great place. Must be good if they've been open for 54 years.
What a great little hometown place. If comfort food is what you are looking for, this is your spot. Our waitress, Samantha, greeted us with "hello friends" and we knew we would enjoy Sunset. We came here predominately for hubby to have catfish. It did not disappoint. He was satisfied. I had the fried chicken, salad and green beans. All were delicious. The cornbread was OK. You cannot leave without a piece of their homemade pie. We split a piece of coconut cream. Yummmmmm. They had many pies to choose from and even banana pudding. Dessert prices are super reasonable. We love it here in Lebanon. Down to earth people. We will be back.
I love this place for the homestyle food and family feel you get while eating. I'm rather biased since I've eaten here regularly for almost 20 years and surprisingly most of the staff I know have been here at least 10 of those years. That said, the food is the biggest draw. The liver and onions is usually fork tender liver with crisped onions and a perfect gravy ratio. The turnip greens and green beans are perfect with a condiment cup of chow-chow to accentuate the already perfect veggies. You get a choice of corn muffins or rolls or a mix thereof and unlimited tea refills. They have several pies to choose from but the buttermilk and pecan are my favorites. They have daily specials and like many southern places are closed on Wednesdays. I love this place and highly recommend it for any night except Saturday since there's usually a wait after 6.
We are staying in Lebanon for a couple nights and found this gem. I love southern food and this is some of the best I've ever had. I loved the atmosphere. It's the kind of place where everyone knows everyone. The food is made with love and seasoning which is refreshing considering where we live nothing is seasoned enough. Was sad to hear they are closing next month but this place has had a long run and we're really thankful we got to go there before it closed. Our son had the catfish filet, I had the sugar cured ham and my partner had the breaded veal. The hush puppies were the best I've ever had and all of the sides were delicious. Currently driving back to the airBNB with a bag of banana pudding and pie in my lap. We're going back tomorrow. If you're in Lebanon before October 10, 2021 you should absolutely give them a try.
